Recent graduate becomes first student to attend college, starting new chapter at Shepherds College
Camille, a 2025 graduate of Kennedy School at St. Coletta’s of Illinois, is breaking new ground—and inspiring countless others along the way. She has been accepted to Shepherds College, a post-secondary program in Union Grove, Wisconsin, designed specifically for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Camille has already moved into her dorm room and is eagerly preparing to start classes this fall, officially becoming the first Kennedy School student to continue on to college.
“This is a proud moment not just for Camille and her family, but for our entire school community,” said Principal Dawn Angelini. “When students with special needs are given the right guidance, support and encouragement, they grow into adults with amazing opportunities ahead of them. Camille’s achievement shows what’s possible when we believe in every child’s potential.”
Camille’s family hopes her success story will inspire other families and students to dream big, aim high and continue advocating for inclusive opportunities beyond high school.
Kennedy School serves children with developmental disabilities from throughout the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago, focusing on personalized instruction, life skills training and community integration. Camille’s next step marks an exciting chapter not only in her life—but in the school’s growing legacy of empowerment and achievement.
