Graduates reflect on growth, gratitude and new beginnings at emotional ceremony
With red caps, bright smiles and hearts full of pride, seven students from the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. School for Exceptional Children celebrated their high school and middle school graduation on May 21. The moving ceremony honored the perseverance, growth and achievements of the Class of 2025 and served as a powerful reminder of the strength of community and support.
Gratitude took center stage during the ceremony, as graduates reflected on those who helped shape their success.
“I would like to thank my family, friends and staff for helping me through this journey,” said high school graduate Camille.
Classmate Keith expressed gratitude to everyone in Transition Town who helped him learn and grow, while Brianna thanked her mom, dad and sister for believing in her.
“Together, as a team, we will always make great things happen,” she said.
Principal Dawn Angelini thanked families, friends and school staff for their unwavering support.
“It is with great respect and gratitude that the staff at the Kennedy School say ‘thank you’ to our students’ families for sharing their children with us,” Angelini said. “We will be sad to see our students go, but are thankful that they have dedicated people in their lives to support them in the next step of their journey. Thank you all for being part of the St. Coletta’s Family.”
The celebration was attended by Kennedy School educators, administrators and distinguished guests, including St. Coletta’s of Illinois CEO Heather Benedick, Vice Presidents Karen Bartmann and Meredith O’Brien, Director of Human Resources Gladys Ramirez, and teachers Leslie Chowaniec, Kathtrina Wooden, Jackie DeMarco and Amy Quinn.
